Mountains are a space for freedom, discovery, and learning. But they are also a challenge, a school of values and an environment that invites us to grow as people. From this perspective, Muntanyes de Llum was born—a project led by mountain guide Marta Presseguer, who for over ten years has accompanied individuals and hiking groups to experience nature both in our country and around the world. From routes in the Pyrenees to treks in the Himalayas—via the Alps, the Dolomites or the Philippines—Marta has turned her passion into a project that is committed to sustainability, inclusion and people’s well-being.

Living and learning in the mountains

Muntanyes de Llum has a strong educational focus. The aim is not only to guide, but also to teach people to read and respect the natural environment. That is why they offer courses in navigation and route planning, safety in snowy terrain, mountain self-sufficiency, and the use of avalanche transceivers (AVDs). The goal is to provide people with real tools so they can enjoy the mountains safely and independently.

The range of experiences is diverse and tailored to various levels: from treks of varying length and difficulty to snowshoeing or circular routes in the Pyrenees with overnight stays in mountain refuges. They also offer programmes for schools, with day activities or residential camps, always with the aim of conveying values related to respect, discovery and coexistence to new generations.

This approach is directly linked to the idea of the mountain as a social meeting point and a basis for personal growth; a formative and transformative environment. Whether it is discovering the caves and waterfalls of Rupit, climbing the needles of Montserrat, exploring Montseny or spending a night under the stars, each experience is designed to foster environmental awareness and highlight the importance of preserving these landscapes.

A space for inclusion

One of the project's most committed pillars is its inclusive mountain programme. At Muntanyes de Llum, they work to remove barriers and facilitate access to nature for people with disabilities or difficulties in practising sport. Activities—such as hiking, snowshoeing, safety or orienteering workshops—are adapted to the needs of each participant, with the appropriate equipment and support to ensure a safe and rewarding experience.

The aim is to offer real opportunities to engage in outdoor physical activity, encouraging ongoing participation in sport in the future, and to promote social inclusion through shared sport. There are numerous benefits: improved physical and emotional wellbeing, development of strength and coordination, increased self-esteem and social skills. Yet, above all, the greatest impact is the feeling of belonging to a group, experiencing nature without limits, and feeling capable.

Opening up horizons full of light

Muntanyes de Llum also strives to communicate the benefits of mountain sports and to open up new horizons to people who often find it difficult to access this type of activity. With passion, professionalism and a deep respect for nature and people, this project demonstrates that the mountains can be a space open to everyone, regardless of conditions or abilities—a place to discover oneself, share and grow.
