Celebrating a business milestone or energising teams can have an impact that goes beyond benefits to the organisation. It can become an opportunity to leave a positive mark on the area and contribute to its development. This is the philosophy of Rurality Events, a Catalan company specialising in sustainable corporate events in small towns, committed to innovation with a rural soul.
A blueprint for meaningful events
Rurality Events was founded by Begoña Muñoz and Almudena Pedraza, two professionals who are passionate about event organisation and the rural world. In the face of growing depopulation in many areas, they saw an opportunity to create unique corporate experiences with added value: events that generate a triple positive impact—social, economic and environmental.
This agency organises meetings, conventions, team building days and incentive trips in small towns with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants, such as Montclar, Rajadell or Espinelves, making use of natural spaces, restored farmhouses and other charming settings. Its mission is to be agents of change towards a vibrant rural world and to ensure that each event becomes a transformative experience for both companies and local communities.
Sustainable and zero-kilometre events
Each Rurality Events project is designed with a vision aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, the CSR criteria of each organisation and the principles of the World Charter for Sustainable Tourism +20. As a signatory to the Barcelona Destination Tourism Sustainability Commitment, the agency’s activity is also structured around the five “Ps” of sustainable development: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnerships.
Rurality Events uses environmental and social responsibility criteria at every stage of the process: selecting energy-efficient venues, using reusable decorative elements, minimising waste and consuming local and seasonal products. It is also firmly committed to promoting the heritage and history of the places where it works.
All suppliers are local producers or artisans, which helps boost the local economy and preserve traditional crafts, while giving each event an authentic, heartfelt character. From basketry or dry stone walling workshops to culinary experiences with organic products, every detail adds value to rural culture and gives visibility to the people who keep it alive.
Positive impact for companies and small communities
There are numerous benefits to this type of event. For companies, they represent a new way of understanding corporate social responsibility (CSR), as they combine team cohesion, well-being and commitment to the area. Participants enjoy a unique, tailor-made experience, far from mass tourism and focused on human connection and nature.
For communities, these events are a source of economic and cultural stimulation: they attract visitors, showcase heritage, reduce tourism seasonality, drive innovation and strengthen local identity. In short, they help keep rural life alive, creating new opportunities for communities that are often forgotten.
Experiences that transform
Rurality Events has developed numerous proposals that combine creativity, sustainability and emotion. These include solidarity actions such as “Huerting”, where teams collaborate with the La Tavella social farming project; corporate challenges like the “Top 50 Method”, with activities for connection and cooperation in the heart of nature; or strategic leadership retreats, with dedicated accommodation, local food and sensory experiences linked to the surroundings. They also organise team workshops that are full of humour and popular culture, recreating the spirit of a true village festival.
All these initiatives share the same goal: to turn corporate events into drivers of change, capable of bringing value to both companies and small communities. These are experiences with a truly human and committed touch, leaving a positive and lasting impression.
