Among hazelnut trees and cradled by the quiet rural landscape of Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana, we find Can Burguès, a farmhouse with origins in the thirteenth century and an agricultural legacy that has been passed from generation to generation until today. In 2002, Pep and Dolors decided to branch out by setting up part of their farmhouse as rural tourism accommodation to offer visitors the opportunity to experience life in the countryside in an unbeatable environment. Today, their daughters Marta and Laia continue the project with the same passion and dedication as their parents.

Accommodation with charm and respect for the environment

The farmhouse retains its original structure and rustic style, forged over centuries of history to give it a special charm. Surrounded by gardens and fields, the calm atmosphere that it emits is undeniable. It currently has three independent lodgings (La Caseta, Els Cirerers and Els Cingles), designed to disconnect as a family or couple, as well as a whole series of facilities to complete the stay: wood-fired sauna, children's play areas, recreational areas for ping-pong, badminton or mini-golf, and a heated swimming pool powered by renewable energy.

Can Burguès is an excellent example of good environmental practices and a commitment to sustainable tourism that takes care of the territory. The heating and cooling of the swimming pool are powered by biomass obtained from the branches during hazelnut tree pruning. The photovoltaic solar panels generate the electricity consumed throughout the facilities, while the thermal panels provide hot water.

The cleaning products are environmentally friendly, allergen-free and have minimal impact on the environment. In addition, the reuse and recycling of materials are actively encouraged through proper waste separation.

The hazelnut: a symbol of its fields

The main activity of Can Burguès has always been agriculture, with 26 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of hazelnut trees. In 2004, the conversion to organic farming began, certified in 2007 by the Generalitat. This form of farming avoids the use of synthetic chemical products, preserves the fauna and protects human and soil health, resulting in natural, high quality, healthy and tasty products.

Negret hazelnuts, highly regarded for their intense flavour, are the farm's top product and can be purchased in the small farm shop on site, along with other organic and local products.

By participating in agricultural activities, guests will learn where the food we eat comes from and will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the farm animals, such as Pinky, the farm's friendliest pig.

History, sustainability and hospitality

Agrotourism is a type of tourism closely linked to agricultural activity and life in the countryside. In addition to being an alternative to fast-paced travel to crowded destinations, it contributes to the economy of rural families and promotes environmentally friendly and sustainable practices. Can Burguès exemplifies this model with its firm commitment: the use of renewable energies, ecological agriculture and a warm and friendly manner that makes guests feel at home right from the beginning.

All this in an extraordinary environment. Despite being close to the centre of town, at Can Burguès you will feel immersed in the calm of the countryside. And always with its ever-present symbol: the organic hazelnut, cultivated with passion and care, representative of the agricultural tradition and respect for nature that define this historic farmhouse.
