Cellers Avgvstvs Forvm, remembering where we come from to know where we are going

The Penedès is a land of great historical and scenic wealth. More than 2000 years ago, the Romans left an indelible mark and plotted the path of a winemaking tradition that has survived to the present day. This is the outstanding setting where Cellers Avgvstvs Forvm is located, a family business that fuses the Roman legacy with innovation and sustainability.

A tribute to the Roman past of the Penedès region

More than forty years ago, in 1983, the Roca family acquired an estate located on the historic Via Augusta, a Roman road that crossed Hispania and which served as inspiration to name the winery. Later, in 1990, they decided to carry out some experimental microvinifications and, after obtaining very satisfactory results, they built the winery on the same property. This stony limestone soil, where modern facilities are located that allow them to control the entire process, and which have some exceptional views of the Mediterranean, has become the birthplace of unique wines and vinegars full of character that today reach tables in more than 40 countries.

With native varieties such as Xarel-lo, Malvasía de Sitges, Macabeo, Garnacha and Ull de Llebre, and international varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot, each bottle contains the essence of this terroir, the heritage of a landscape that was once the sea and that has now positioned itself as one of the most highly valued places for Mediterranean viticulture.

Continuing to write history

But drawing inspiration from the past only serves to look to the future. Avgvstvs Forvm not only wants to recall history, but to continue writing it, which is why innovation and sustainability are two fundamental pillars of its business vision. The use of new technologies and the constant search for improvements that allow them to look after the land that offers them so much, has led Avgvstvs Forvm to become a self-sustainable winery.

With the installation of solar panels, they thereby achieved the ambitious goal of self-sufficiency with green energy. When their own generation is not sufficient, they connect to the electricity grid, but, thanks to an agreement with the company, the energy used is always from renewable sources. The opening of a biological treatment plant to treat the wastewater generated and reuse it to irrigate the vineyards was a further step in caring for the environment, reducing the ecological footprint of its activity and further intensifying its message of protection and love for the landscape. The objective is clear: protect the natural environment and ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy this winemaking legacy without compromising the planet's resources.

The success of a responsible philosophy

For Cellers Avgvstvs Forvm, the commitment to sustainability is not only a strategic investment, but a way of understanding the craft. They are passionate about wine and the land and are committed to excellence. Knowing that they can produce quality products while contributing to a greener world is, for them, synonymous with success. After four decades, Avgvstvs Forvm has demonstrated that it is possible to maintain a centuries-old winemaking tradition while adapting to the challenges of the present and the future. Today, they continue to work to surprise the most demanding palates and to spread the Roman legacy of the Mediterranean throughout the world, with the mission of transforming the essence of a landscape full of history into products that transport us back in time and make us experience authentic emotions. Because, as they themselves say, the best way to know where we are going is to remember where we came from.
