In 2020, two locals from the Penedès, Maria and Marçal, decided to launch a new project. They chose the surname of their grandmother —lost along the family line—a s its name, and her values as their guiding philosophy: care, sharing and enjoyment.
Batllori is not just a winery, a cava brand, a farmhouse, a vineyard or a family. It is the sum of all these elements. A living project that grows day by day through the experiences and stories of those who come to discover it.
A project that cares for people and the land
Batllori is the wine tourism project of two passionate advocates of the Penedès who are committed to sharing their small corner of the world. And it is no ordinary place: their vineyards were recognised at the Vinari Awards 2021 as among the best in Catalonia.
Surrounded by mountains, the vineyards coexist with the Castle of Subirats, a nearby Iberian settlement, and the palaeontological site of Els Casots, where around 17 million years ago there was a lake inhabited by crocodiles and other prehistoric species. Their wines and cavas rest in a Modernista building. This seamless combination of history, tradition, flavours and aromas perfectly reflects the project’s essence. A clear example is Batllori Brut Rosé Cava, a 100% organic Pinot Noir sparkling wine made using the traditional method and awarded the Gold Medal at the Vinari Awards 2023.
But Batllori is far more than its products. It represents a deep commitment to the territory and the people who live there. As part of the Destination Barcelona Commitment to Sustainable Tourism, the project promotes quality employment, respect for the environment, and the dissemination of local products and culture.
A place to share
Finca Batllori opens its doors to everyone who wishes to discover and share its project and values. It is an ideal setting for celebrations and group activities, inviting visitors to disconnect, and reconnect with what truly matters.
Guided tours allow guests to explore the winery’s spaces and gain first-hand insight into the cava-making process, along with fascinating insights into the sector. The experience can be completed with a visit to the Castle of Subirats —a witness to the period of the Reconquest— from where visitors can enjoy spectacular views over the Penedès and the Montserrat mountain range.
Itinerant tastings, team-building activities, gastronomic experiences and guided walks complete the offering. In addition, for those simply looking to pause along the way, Winebar Batllori offers a glass of cava or wine accompanied by an aperitif, all enjoyed against a backdrop of magnificent views.
So many special moments to enjoy
Batllori’s calendar is always full, as celebrating life’s moments is part of its essence. The Batllori Summer Party, the grape harvest and the St John's Eve festivities are among the highlights of the year. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, visitors are encouraged to join the Batllori Club free of charge, where they can receive up-to-date information on events and follow the evolution of this living project at close hand.
The Penedès is a must-stop destination for wine tourism enthusiasts, and at Batllori you will find far more than you expect. Because, as with everything in this project, it is the sum of all its elements that will truly surprise you.
