Society is becoming increasingly aware of the importance of environmental responsibility in business. Consumers’ opinions matter more than ever, and companies strive to show that doing things properly is not only about offering a good product, but also about adopting policies that respect everything surrounding it. In the food sector, this scrutiny is even more demanding.

D'Oliciós is a project born in the Penedès region that combines tradition, innovation and, above all, respect for the environment. The aim is not simply to produce a bottle of olive oil; it is to ensure that both the packaging and the product itself reflect a firm commitment to the land, biodiversity and the local community.

A legacy that cares for the future

The story began many years ago. Across several generations, olive cultivation has shaped the journey of the family and the D’Oliciós project. That journey continues today, now guided by a modern and sustainable outlook. This is made possible through the application of organic farming techniques, avoiding all chemical pesticides and protecting soil health with plant cover and composting. In addition, habitats are encouraged so that pollinating insects can thrive free from environmental stress, and collaborations are established with local organisations to help preserve the surrounding environment.

Certifications that endorse the family’s commitment

As a result of these efforts and this growing awareness, the D’Oliciós project is now part of the Destination Barcelona Commitment to Sustainable Tourism, a programme that recognises initiatives contributing to responsible and sustainable tourism. This is thanks to the immersive tourism experiences they offer, which allow visitors to learn about the organic production process and enjoy activities linked to extra virgin olive oil.

Furthermore, in line with this commitment, the project also holds certification from the CCPAE (Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production) and the European organic farming label (Eurofulla), which guarantee that every drop of their oil meets the most demanding sustainability standards.

A responsible production process

One of the qualities that gives D’Oliciós its distinctive character is its use of cold extraction. This not only preserves the olive’s organoleptic properties, but also reduces energy consumption (which, of course, has a significant environmental benefit). To go a step further, the oil production process includes systems for efficient water management, reusing resources to minimise environmental impact. All of this is part of a clear philosophy: producing quality without compromising the planet, and taking care of it in the process.

Sustainability can also extends to social responsibility. And it is in this extension that D’Oliciós also puts its principles into practice, through fair working conditions, ongoing training for employees and participation in local development projects. It is the ethics of responsibility applied to virtually every aspect of production.

An award-winning oil

All this effort has not been in vain. In addition to the satisfaction of helping preserve the land’s biodiversity, their work has been recognised with major awards. The award for the best Mature Fruity Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the small producer category in Catalonia confirms that quality and sustainability can not only go hand in hand, but can also become the cornerstone of a small project with a clear and ambitious vision.
