Lluçanès is officially a young region, but its identity has been forged over centuries of history. This area, located between Osona, Bages and Berguedà, and described as calm and serene, is home to legends and landscapes that connect us with the past, but it also looks towards a future rooted in sustainability and respect for nature.

A paradise for hikers

Those who enjoy walking will find more than 200 km of trails in Lluçanès, connecting villages, farmhouses, chapels and charming spots. There are family-friendly routes, ideal for discovering heritage at a leisurely pace; nature trails that cross forests with springs, reservoirs and viewpoints; historic paths and cattle trails that let us walk in the footsteps of shepherds, witches, bandits or Carlists; and themed routes such as the Mushroom Route-Game, which allows children to learn about this fascinating world while enjoying nature.

The Romanesque heritage of Lluçanès

In all these villages, paths and landscapes, Lluçanès preserves a rich Romanesque legacy with a long list of places of interest, such as the crypt at Sant Andreu d’Oristà, Lluçà Monastery or Sant Pere de Serrallonga. The region makes them accessible to everyone, with routes and games designed for all ages, allowing all their secrets to be revealed.

With the Romanesque Game, visitors step into the shoes of a medieval pilgrim and travel through villages, farmhouses and forests, overcoming challenges to discover these monuments in a fun experience that connects heritage with exploration and shared enjoyment.

A region that invites you to move – and to pause

Cycling tourism on winding roads, mountain biking routes taking in forests and cliffs, horse riding or mountain challenges: the range of activities for the more adventurous is varied and open to all. But Lluçanès, with its outstanding location, also stands out for offering spectacular views of the area, making it the true viewpoint of Catalonia. From spots such as the Mirador dels Munts, with a 360° panorama, the Serrat de les Forques viewpoint, featuring a Modernista gazebo, or Sant Salvador de Bellver, visitors can see Pedraforca, Montserrat, Montseny and the Eastern Pyrenees.

Traditions and good food

As an ideal place to enjoy local cuisine, Lluçanès boasts iconic products you simply must try, such as the legendary Perafita coca or truffles, a culinary treasure with exceptional qualities. Oristà chickpeas, beans, cured meats, pig’s trotters and lamb form the basis of a cuisine prepared with patience and respect for local produce, with recipes passed down through generations and enjoyed in hearty breakfasts or traditional dishes at establishments such as Ca la Cinta or Cafè del Mig..

The region also keeps its identity alive through festivals and traditions. The Witchcraft Interpretation Centre in Sant Feliu Sasserra or the one in Perot Rocaguinarda recall stories of witches and bandits, while fairs and celebrations continue to be meeting places that keep the area’s livestock tradition alive. In Alpens, the Ironwork Route turns the village into an open-air museum and a European benchmark for this art.

In search of good travellers

Lluçanès works hard every day to consolidate a model of sustainable tourism, embodied in the Barcelona Biosphere Tourism Sustainability Commitment and in actions focused on environmental conservation, supporting the local economy, promoting culture and boosting community wellbeing.

This region seeks “good travellers”: people who know how to enjoy nature and culture with respect and admiration. This is why it offers good practice guides and educational activities such as the treasure hunt at the Roman site of Puig Ciutat, which combines history, archaeology and fun.

Discovering Lluçanès means delving into an authentic region where nature, history and rural life come together in harmony to reveal centuries of memory and invite visitors to experience the present with serenity.
