Alternatives to mass tourism are gaining more and more prominence, and these include a philosophy that encourages travellers to enjoy getaways at a slower pace, in harmony with the environment and respecting local nature and culture. Slow travel—as this movement is known—is the cornerstone of Garrofer Green Camping, which, from Sitges, offers a sustainable tourism experience.

A historic accommodation that cares for the future

Founded in 1963, Garrofer Green Camping is a family-run business with over 60 years of history that has managed to evolve over time without losing its essence. Located just 900 metres from Terramar beach and very close to the centre of Sitges, this campsite has gone from being a traditional accommodation option to becoming a benchmark for sustainable tourism in Catalonia.

After several months working hand in hand with the Barcelona Destination Tourism Sustainability Commitment, in 2020 they obtained the accreditation that recognizes their efforts in this area. Beyond the certifications, the daily commitment of the entire team, who see themselves as a family, is something that makes a difference and is conveyed to guests through the care and enthusiasm they put into everything they do.

Sustainable glamping experience

At Garrofer Green Camping, no two experiences are the same and, almost, no two accommodations are identical. The variety offered is as diverse as it is environmentally friendly: wooden bungalows, tiny homes, glamping jaima or tipi-type tents, and even innovations such as the Dome, a geodesic tent for two people, and the Orion lodge, inspired by African safaris and perfect for families. All these spaces have been designed by taking into account landscaping and natural integration criteria, by using low-impact materials and efficient lighting, while at the same time offering all the comforts of a premium camping experience.

Their suppliers are local, they use native species in the management of green spaces, and they respect wildlife and work every day to offer an experience that respects the biodiversity and landscape of the Garraf.

It is also an inclusive and accessible area, with the aim that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, can enjoy a holiday surrounded by nature.

Experiencing the Garraf with all your senses

At Garrofer Green Camping, you’ll never get bored! The facilities, with swimming pools, water slides, a skatepark, multi-sport courts and outdoor fitness areas, offer entertainment for all ages, while at spaces like the Chiringuito, Camping Pizza or the La Sinia restaurant you can enjoy a varied culinary offering, always with a Mediterranean touch.

Its location makes the campsite the ideal starting point to discover the area. You’ll be able to explore green routes on foot or by bike—which can be rented right at reception—discover the old town of Sitges, visit museums, and enjoy local festivals and the cultural offerings of the Garraf.

Sleeping among the trees, diving into the pool, or dining under the stars are all part of the experience at this campsite, which has everything you need to disconnect from the noise and fast pace of life and enjoy the Mediterranean at your own pace. For all these reasons, it’s no surprise that in 2023 it was recognized as the most original accommodation in Spain by the Spanish Federation of Campsites—a prize that acknowledges its innovative spirit, but above all, its commitment to a better future.
